Solicitation Policy

Northfield Center Township has established a solicitation policy to balance the rights of individuals and businesses with the privacy and safety of its residents.

Key aspects of the policy include:

  • Permit Requirement: All commercial solicitors must obtain a permit from Summit County before engaging in door-to-door activities within the township. If you’re a solicitor, you can find Summit County’s form on their website, or we’ve linked it here.
  • “Do Not Knock” Registry: Residents who prefer not to receive solicitations can register their address with NOPEC’s “Do Not Knock” registry. This list is provided to licensed solicitors, who are required to respect the preferences of registered households. Learn more and sign-up for NOPEC’s DO NOT KNOCK Registry here.
  • Operating Hours: Solicitation activities are typically restricted to certain hours to minimize disturbances, though specific time frames should be confirmed with township authorities.
  • Identification: Licensed solicitors are generally required to carry identification and display their permit upon request to ensure legitimacy.

Northfield Center Township currently has no active solicitors registered. If you see someone going door-to-door claiming to be a solicitor, please know that they are not authorized by the Township at this time and you can call the Sheriff’s office at (330) 643- 2181.

Note: Policies are subject to change; please refer to official township communications for updates.
