The Northfield Center Township Service Department works year-round to keep our roads, equipment, and public spaces safe and well-maintained. Below is a summary of the essential services we provide to residents:
Leaf Pick-Up (Seasonal)
Curbside leaf collection is offered each fall, typically from October through early December. Leaves should be raked to the edge of the lawn (not into the street).
Snow & Ice Removal
The department plows and salts township roads during winter weather, working around the clock as needed to ensure roads remain safe and accessible.
Road Repairs & Reconstruction
The department performs routine and emergency maintenance, including pothole repair, road resurfacing, and reconstruction projects.
Storm Debris Branch Pick-Up
After major storms, the department provides curbside pickup and chipping of downed branches and large limbs if they impede the road.
Vehicle & Equipment Maintenance
All township vehicles and equipment are serviced in-house to ensure safe, efficient operation.

Dead Animal Pick-Up (Right-of-Way Only)
The department removes deceased animals located in the public right-of-way. Property owners are responsible for removal on private property.
Ditch & Culvert Repair
The department maintains roadside ditches and culverts to support proper drainage and reduce flooding risks.
Street Sign Maintenance
The department repairs and replaces damaged or missing street signs to maintain visibility and traffic safety.
Submitting a Work Order
Northfield Center Township’s Service Department receives a high volume of requests, and we work hard to address each one as efficiently as possible. However, not all work can be completed immediately. Requests are prioritized based on factors such as public safety, the nature of the issue, seasonal demands, and the order in which they are received.
Emergency and safety-related concerns—like blocked roads or major drainage problems—are addressed first. Routine maintenance and non-urgent requests are scheduled as time, weather, and resources allow.
We appreciate your understanding and patience as we work to serve the entire township.
If you’ve submitted a request and would like an update on the status or have questions, feel free to contact the Service Department at 330-467-7646 ext. 4.
