On Monday, March 2, 2026, the Northfield Center Township Board of Trustees recognized two remarkable young residents during their monthly Trustee meeting: Eagle Scout Owen McRitchie and Eagle Scout Cooper McRitchie.

The brothers, both residents of Northfield Center Township, were honored for achieving the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout – the highest rank attainable in the Boy Scouts of America. Their accomplishments were celebrated not only for the leadership and dedication required to earn the honor, but also for the lasting impact their Eagle Scout projects have made in the community.

Both Owen and Cooper chose to complete their Eagle Scout service projects at the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #108 in Macedonia, Ohio, a location that holds special meaning for their family. Their great-grandfather, Pete McRitchie, once served as Chief of Police and donated the very property where the lodge stands today. Carrying on that legacy of service, the brothers set out to enhance the lodge grounds in ways that will benefit officers and their families for years to come.

Owen’s Eagle Scout project involved constructing a beautiful paver patio with a fire pit at its center, creating a welcoming gathering space on the lodge property. Building upon his brother’s work, Cooper’s project complemented the patio by installing landscape rock around the lodge grounds and constructing four handcrafted wooden chairs to surround the patio and fire pit area.

Together, the projects transformed the outdoor space into a comfortable place where members of the lodge can relax, gather, and spend quality time with family and fellow officers.

The Northfield Center Township Board of Trustees was proud to recognize Owen and Cooper for their initiative, craftsmanship, and commitment to community service. Achieving the rank of Eagle Scout is a significant milestone that reflects years of dedication, leadership, and perseverance.
