Northfield VFW Post 6768: Supporting Veterans & Serving the Community

Northfield VFW Post 6768, located at 8584 Olde Eight Road in Northfield, OH, has been a pillar of support for veterans and the community since its founding in 1946. Originally chartered by WWII and WWI veterans, the post continues to serve veterans of all eras—offering fellowship, advocacy, and active engagement in local life.

What They Do for Veterans

Post 6768 provides vital resources for veterans and their families, including help with navigating VA benefits, healthcare, and disability claims. Through their “Veteran Outreach” (Buddy-Buddy) program, the VFW offers confidential peer support for veterans dealing with PTSD, transition challenges, and emotional stress. They also maintain an Honor Guard for military funerals and remembrance ceremonies, and operate a Chaplain’s Closet that donates essential items to veterans and military families in need.

What They Do for the Community

Northfield VFW is more than a veterans’ organization—it’s an active community partner. The post provides numerous events and services, including:

    • Memorial Day and Veterans Day ceremonies
    • Community car shows like “Vettes for Vets”
    • Holiday toy drives
    • Queen of Hearts drawings and weekly food nights
    • Fundraisers and civic projects that support youth and education
    • American Lung Association donations
    • Flag Recycling
    • Emergency Assistance Center services

Their facility—featuring a hall and pavilion—is also available for community rental and regularly used for celebrations, meetings, and fundraisers. These events not only support the VFW’s mission but also bring the community together in meaningful ways.

How to Join

Membership is open to U.S. military veterans who served in overseas conflicts or received hostile fire/imminent danger pay. New members can apply online through the post’s website. Dues are $39 annually, with a discounted $20 rate for student veterans.
