Zoning Commission Opening
Northfield Center Township is looking for a neighbor to fill a vacancy on our Zoning Commission. If you care about how our community grows—where homes go, where businesses set up shop, and how we keep everything balanced—this is a great way to pitch in.
Why it matters:
-
Good zoning keeps neighborhoods safe, streets easy to navigate, and property values steady.
-
It makes sure new projects fit in—whether that’s a family home, a small shop, or a community garden.
What you’ll do:
-
Meet once a month (plus extra meetings if something pops up).
-
Read through the current zoning rules and any proposed changes.
-
Talk things over with the other commissioners, then send your recommendations to the Board of Trustees.
Who’s involved in the Zoning Process:
-
Zoning Commission: Writes and updates the rules.
-
Zoning Inspector: Answers questions, checks applications, and makes sure everyone follows the rules.
-
Board of Appeals: Listens to requests for exceptions and decides if they’re fair.
How to apply:
-
Drop by our office at 8484 Olde Eight Road to pick up an application.
-
Fill it out and return it as soon as you can.
-
