Summit County ReWorks is scheduled to being the 2025 Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Collection season, on Thursday, June 5, 2025. The HHW Collection Center will operate weekly on Thursdays from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM at 1201 Graham Road, Stow, OH 44224. The final collection day for the season will be Thursday, September 25, 2025.
By participating in the HHW Collection program, Northfield Center residents contribute to a safer and cleaner environment in Summit County. Proper disposal of hazardous materials prevents environmental contamination and promotes public health.
Accepted Materials
Residents are encouraged to utilize this opportunity to safely dispose of various household hazardous waste items. Accepted materials include:

Automotive Products: Antifreeze, brake fluid, gasoline, gas mixtures, used motor oil, and auto grease.

Batteries: Automotive, rechargeable (NiCad, Li-Ion, Ni-MH), and single-use batteries (alkaline, lithium).

Paint Products: Oil-based and solvent-based paints, paint thinners (please note, latex or water-based paints are not accepted).

Household Chemicals: Acids, adhesives, aerosol cans, bleach, caulks, caustics, household cleaners, kerosene, lighter fluid, pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, and pool chemicals.

Other Items: E-cigarettes or vapes, fire extinguishers, road flares, propane cylinders (30 pounds or smaller), solvents, compact fluorescent bulbs (CFLs), and fluorescent tubes.

Important Guidelines

Container Size: Only containers 5 gallons or smaller are accepted.

Residency Requirement: Services are exclusively for Summit County residents disposing of materials from their own homes. Materials from businesses, schools, non-profits, governmental entities, or other non-residential sources are not accepted.

Preparation of Materials: Certain items require special preparation before drop-off. For example, asbestos must be wetted, double-bagged, sealed, and labeled appropriately. Fluorescent tubes should be taped together or placed in a secure box to prevent breakage.
Alternative Recycling Options
For materials not accepted at the HHW Collection Center, such as latex paint, electronics, or large appliances, ReWorks provides information on alternative recycling options. Residents are encouraged to consult ReWorks’ resources for proper disposal methods of these items.
