Residents of Northfield Center, here’s your chance to make a positive change for your lawn—and the environment. Summit County Public Health is launching its “Lawnmower Exchange” program, a rebate initiative that rewards you for switching from gas-powered mowers to cleaner, battery or electric-powered models.
What’s the Program About?
- Eco-Friendly Upgrade: Electric and battery-powered lawn equipment not only runs quieter but also improves air quality by eliminating gas emissions.
- Rebate Incentives: Once you purchase your new electric or battery-powered mower and, if applicable, scrap your old gas mower (with a valid scrap receipt), you can receive a Visa® rebate gift card. Rebates vary:
- $150 rebate when you provide a scrap receipt for your old mower.
- Other rebate amounts are available for purchases without a scrap receipt or for new accessories.
- How to Participate:
- Registration Opens: March 10, 2025, at 8 AM. (Remember, space is limited and registrations are on a first-come, first-served basis.)
- Eligibility: Must be a household resident of Medina, Summit, or Portage County. (Note: Lawn care businesses are not eligible.)
- After Confirmation: Purchase your new equipment and scrap your old mower (if going for the $150 rebate). Then, submit your receipts by emailing a photo or screenshot to [email protected] or mailing copies to 1867 W. Market Street, Akron, OH 44313.
- Rebate Pickup: Once your receipts are verified, pick up your Visa® gift card starting April 1, 2025, at the Akron office (open Monday–Friday, 8 AM–4 PM; certain holidays excluded).
Important Deadlines:
- Registration Closes: May 31, 2025
- Receipt Submission Deadline: June 30, 2025
- Gift Card Pickup Deadline: July 30, 2025
