Leaf Collection Program for 2024

LEAF COLLECTION INFORMATION – YEAR 2024

Northfield Center Township will begin the fall leaf collection Monday, October 21, 2024, weather permitting. Continual rounds starting on October 21st with final deadline of December 1, 2024, to put your leaves out for collection.

Leaf pick-up will run counterclockwise in the township. The starting point will be at Oviatt Dr. working Northward down the roads East of Olde 8 Rd. to Valley View Rd. From there we will head Southward covering roads on the West side of Olde 8 Rd to W. Twinsburg Rd.  Next will be E. Twinsburg to and through the Rolling Brooke Development. From there we will go northward on all roads east of Olde 8 Rd finishing at Oviatt. The cycle will continue, and the December 1ST cut off starts with the road we are on that day. From that day forward any road we pick up completes that road for the season!

Leaf Pickup is more effective when residents follow the below guidance when placing their leaves for pickup.  Failure to comply results in a slower process, equipment damage and possibly no collection

1.)    Please rake leaves in 3 ft. to 4 ft. wide linear rows alongside the road starting at the road edge, and not to exceed 14 ft. from the road. If your property has ditches keep leaf piles between the ditch and the road (Highly recommended!). If you are unable to place leaves between the ditch and the road, place the leaves on the “house side” of the ditch as close to the ditch as possible, but not in the ditch.

2.)    Keep storm water systems clear of leaves to insure proper flow. Do not cover catch basins or culvert pipes. Do not put leaves in the bottom of the ditch which will cause flooding. Additionally, wet leaves impair the machines suction capabilities.

3.)    Do not place leaves in the street, behind or against trees, mailboxes, fire hydrants, utility poles, over rocks, and maintain a 6-foot buffer from these items.

4.)    This is a leaf collection only. Do not put sticks, branches, stones, mulch, grass clippings, ornamental grasses, trash, and garden debris in the leaf piles. These clog our machines and can cause extensive and costly damage. Leaf piles containing debris will not be picked up.

5.)    Do not park vehicles on roads along leaf piles, this blocks our equipment from reaching the leaf piles.

6.)    Any leaves remaining after the final pickup will be the responsibility of the homeowner. Leaves can be put into trash totes or bagged for garbage pick-up.

7.)   Do not place leaves over rocks or stones of any size. Our machines will pick them up with the leaves and damage will occur. Leaf piles covering rocks or stones will not be picked up.

Inclement weather, breakdowns, and other unforeseen circumstances may delay our schedule. Please see our Northfield Center Township web page for updates! With everyone’s cooperation this years Leaf Collection will run smoothly.
